Bosnia ended the third quarter of 2016 with 3.42 million active mobile telephony users, down 2.87 percent
on the same quarter in 2015 and by 5.55 percent compared to Q2 2016. Of the total, 2.62 million were prepaid and 804,683 postpaid, according to the quarterly report of the Communications Regulatory Authority. The mobile telephony penetration rate was 89.55 percent (-2.50%).BH Telecom had the highest market share with 47.14 percent (44.59% in Q3 2015), followed by m:tel with 37.99 percent (41.96%), HT Mostar with 14.49 percent (12.83%), Izi mobile with 0.21 percent (0.53%), Blicnet with 0.07 percent (0.07%), Logosoft with 0.03 percent (0.02%), Telrad with 0.03 percent (0.02%) and Elta Kabel with 0.03 percent.
In the same period, the number of active fixed telephony lines of the incumbent operators amounted to 697,884, down 2.70 percent from a year earlier. There were thirteen alternative fixed telecom operators with 91,674 subscribers, up 19.64 percent over the same period. The number of ported fixed lines amounted to 44,114 (+50.83%).
The total number of fixed broadband internet subscribers amounted to 641,527 at the end of September 2016, up 0.70 percent year-on-year. Of the total, 376,187 were on xDSL, 207,983 cable, 55,130 fixed wireless access, 1,245 leased lines, 807 FTTx and 175 using other technologies. The fixed broadband internet penetration rate was 74.05 percent (+0.89%).
