The first commercial airliner from Ryiadh, with Saudi tourists and businessmen on board, touched down at the Sarajevo international airport on Friday, but some passengers on the Nesma Airlines flight had to fly back home as their visas were not valid. Bosnian media reported earlier that the Bosnian embassy to Saudi Arabia has issues with visas, as tens of thousands applied but the embassy has only a few thousand visas available.
“We have already canceled 24 flights to Bosnia, and in this situation we plan to cancel more flights, as well as future investments, and close some companies,” said a representative of the Al Shiddi group who arrived on the Nesma flight.
According to the media reports, the Al Shiddi group, a major investor in Sarajevo, made a deal with the Egyptian carrier Nesma Airlines on direct daily commercial flights from Riyadh this summer. However, the deal is now complicated with the visa situation.
