Recently formed Sarajevo Gypsy Band launched their first CD at an event in a music studio of the Bosnian national public broadcaster BHRT, in Sarajevo. The event, sponsored by a Bosnian Romani organization, was also the first gig for for the band, whose members are BHRT employees.
The CD has ten original Romani songs, played in ethno style and with jazz elements.
“We came to the idea to play original Romani music because it is a bit forgotten in this part of the world. I hope that it will be accepted and that people will like it,” said the band member Jasmin Pandžić.
The band worked on the CD for a year.
“I hope that the band will succeed and that we will enjoy good, old and new Romani music with the Romani, and that there will be more and more Romani music in Bosnia”, said Pandžić.
