Sarajevo’s central municipality and a print studio teamed up to set up outdoor sunscreens, called the “sun sails”. The idea is to provide an appealing protection from strong sunlight as the region is coping with the “Lucifer” heat wave. After a short break earlier this week, the air temperature in Sarajevo is again edging closer to 40 degrees Celsius.
The “sun sails” are supposed to add to the aesthetic look of Sarajevo’s central area while providing protection from high temperatures in the most popular pedestrian zones in the municipality. Initially, the “sun sails” were set up at Ferhadija Street.
The municipality mayor said the “sails” will be perched in other streets in the area.
“The main goal is to protect pedestrians from the sun, but also to create a sight for the tourists that they will take with them,” the mayor said.
