An American national and her Sarajevan friend were taken to a police station for allegedly showing the middle finger to a member of the Bosnian Presidency. According to Dnevni avaz daily, the incident happened in a central Sarajevo street, where the American and her friend were in a car on their way to Bjelašnica mountain for a field trip, while the car with Presidency member Bakir Izetbegović was in the next lane.
According to a member of Izetbegović’s security detail, the Presidency member asked his security to call the police and ask them to stop the car with the American and her friend, because she flipped him off. The police responded by dispatching a patrol car. The American and her friend were then taken to a police station for questioning. She admitted to showing the middle finger and accepted a misdemeanor report.
“She rolled down the window and showed the finger; there was no evil intention, she did not attack them, she did not pelt them with stones, or anything like that. We laughed, but I did tell her not to do it. I told her maybe one of our politicians (was in the car) and I was right,” Dnevni Avaz was told by the friend.
