Bosnian Croat Republic Anniversary

Bosnian Croat politicians and public figures attended an event in Mostar to mark the anniversary of the 1993 proclamation of a Croat republic in Bosnia.

The Croat Republic of Herzeg-Bosnia, a self-styled government backed by Croatia, claimed the territories held by Bosnian Croat forces during the Bosnian war of the nineties. The surviving members of its leadership were found guilty by a UN court of a joint criminal enterprise to ethnically cleanse parts of Bosnia from Serbs and Bosniaks. The republic ceased to exist in 1995 when the peace accords that ended the war were signed.
