The twelfth edition of a Sarajevo festival of feminist art will be held September 7-10. The Pitchwise festival, organized by CURE feminist organization since 2006, hosts artists, activists and feminism theoreticians working on the women’s rights issues in Bosnia and in the Western Balkans region.
The theme of the 2017 Pitchwise is “The world is our canvas”. The festival organizers said that one of the guests this year will be Zahira Kelly, an African-Latin artist and social culture critic. Her work centers on racial, ethnic, gender and other identities, calling for changes to the status quo and revision of the role of historical figures that were erased from the dominant history narratives by exploiting authors.
Also, a Berlin “sex-positive” queer and feminist troupe is expected at Pitchwise this year. Coven Berlin will take part in a panel on September 9, at which the discussion will focus on feminism, sex, love, pain and pleasure.
