The Regional Cooperation Council said it supports this year’s edition of an annual international festival of high school theater in Sarajevo, which opens on Saturday September 9. The Juventafest will present eight plays this year, performed by troupes from Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The plays will compete for a Grand Prix for the Best Theater Performance and a Special Jury Award. The venues of the festival’s fifth edition, which closes on September 13, are the Youth Theater and the Novo Sarajevo International Center for Children and Youth.
The festival selector Asja Krsmanović said about this year’s selection: “We celebrate our little jubilee, because over the past five years we managed to build a small but safe space for those who grow in and with theater. This year we bring eight plays, different thematically and aesthetically, but so similar in their intention to move and change, to make the world a better place not only for them, but also for others.”
