Photos of a shirtless lawmaker harvesting potatoes on prime time television have been re-posted extensively on social media Monday morning. Nikola Špirić, member of the Bosnian parliament, reportedly sent photos of him digging up potatoes while being bare-chested to the Republika Srpska Radio-Television public broadcaster, RTRS.
The entity broadcaster decided to feature the photos of lawmaker with harvested potatoes as background to its prime time weather forecast on Sunday evening.
The photos from Špirić’s farm in a village in western Bosnia picked up traction fast on Twitter and Facebook.
“The point was the potatoes and that people can do useful things,” Špirić told N1 network.
“I am not upset by the comments,” he said.
Nikoal Špirić is member of the ruling party in Republika Srpska, the SNSD, which is often criticized of controlling the entity’s public broadcaster.
