Auditors of the European Union’s Directorate General for Health and Food Analysis (formerly the food and veterinary office) have arrived to Bosnia for an inspection of the country’s poultry production control system – a step towards approving export of Bosnian poultry products to the Union.
Bosnian Veterinary Office in Sarajevo hosted a meeting of the EU auditors and representatives of the Bosnian institutions and agencies that control the poultry production. The auditors should visit the entity ministries of agriculture and inspection administrations, two quality control laboratories and four poultry producers nominated for export approval – two slaughterhouses and two poultry meat processing factories.
The Directorate General for Health and Food Safety carries out audits, inspections and related non-audit activities aimed at ensuring that EU legislation on food and feed safety, animal health, animal welfare, plant health and in the area of medical devices is properly implemented and enforced.
The auditors have previously approved export of Bosnian milk and dairy products to the EU.
