Diplomats, Officials Visit Ammunition Destruction Range

Unites States Ambassador to Bosnia Maureen Cormack, officials from the Bosnian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces o, EUFOR and other representatives of the international community visited the Glamoč Ammunition Destruction Range in western Bosnia to demonstrate support for the disposal of excess and unsafe ammunition in the country.

The munitions are remnants from both the former Yugoslav army and the war in the 1990s.  Some 10,000 tons of excess ammunition is kept in 15 storage sites controlled by the Bosnian Armed Forces.

The stock of unstable ammunition poses a security risk to the citizens of Bosnia and its maintenance and physical security is a continuous drain on the Armed Forces budget.
