The steering board of the Federation entity’s public broadcaster informed the national public broadcaster that they will not be exchanging documentary content over the appointment of a controversial documentary department head.
The RTVFBiH said it had “excellent cooperation” with the other two Bosnian public broadcasters – the national BHRT and the Republika Srpska entity’s RTRS – and that it was particularly important to them to cooperate with BHRT as the umbrella public broadcaster. However, the recent appointment of Tvrtko Milović, a journalist known for controversial statements about sensitive issues, was “a line” that “can’t be crossed”.
The entity broadcaster said the new documentary department head at BHRT insulted the children killed in the Bosnian war, used hate speech and called for ethnic segregation.
BHRT steering board appointed heads of the documentary and news departments this week. The appointments were largely seen as political.
