The Heart of Sarajevo awards were presented at a ceremony in the National Theater in Sarajevo to actors and directors of the films that competed in the 2018 Sarajevo Film Festival.
The Heart of Sarajevo for the best feature film went to Bulgaria director Milko Lazarov’s “Ága”. The best director award went to Romanian director Ioana Uricaru for “Lemonade”.
“This is a great honor. Sarajevo has been my heart for ten years now, and now I have its heart. Thank you,” said Uricaru at the award ceremony.
The Heart of Sarajevo for best actor went to Leon Lučev for his role in the Serbian film “The Load”, directed by Ognjen Glavonić. The best actress in this year’s SFF is Zsofie Szilagyi for her role in “One Day”.
“Thank you. I really do not know how to express my emotions. This was the hardest film that I played in. Thanks to Ognjen and the team,” said Lučev.
The human rights award went to Turkish director Didiem Pekun for the documentary “Araf”. The Heart of Sarajevo for the best documentary went to “Srbenka”, directed by Nebojša Slijepčević.
The best short film of the 2018 SFF is “Breath”, the debut of Bosnian director Ermin Bravo.
The 24th Sarajevo Film Festival had 18 programs. Audiences saw 266 films from 54 countries.
